Financial reports¶
Paisa builds its reports from your journal and the prices available for its commodities. Start with the question you want to answer:

| Question | Report |
|---|---|
| What do my asset accounts hold today? | Assets → Balance |
| How has my net worth changed? | Assets → Net Worth |
| How much did I invest over time? | Assets → Investment |
| Where did I spend money this month or year? | Expenses → Monthly or Yearly |
| How much income and tax did I record? | Income |
| What moved in and out of checking accounts? | Cash Flow → Monthly |
| How do annual flows compare by account? | Cash Flow → Yearly |
| What does the yearly profit-and-loss view show? | Cash Flow → Income Statement |
Balances and net worth¶
Asset Balance displays the account hierarchy with market value, cost, and performance where prices are available. Net Worth plots assets, liabilities, and investment performance over a selected period.
Missing or stale prices can affect converted balances and performance figures. Use Commodities and prices to configure price sources and Doctor to find valuation problems.
Income and expenses¶
Monthly and yearly expense reports group spending through the account hierarchy. The Income report compares monthly income and investment activity, and provides financial-year totals for gross income, net income, and tax.
These reports reflect the account structure and postings in your journal. If a transaction is assigned to the wrong account, fix the journal or use Bulk edit where an account rename is appropriate.
Investment activity¶
Assets → Investment shows how much money you invested over time, with monthly and financial-year breakdowns. It measures contributions rather than returns.
- Investment answers how much money went in.
- Investment performance answers how those investments performed.
- Portfolio Analysis shows what the investments contain.
Cash flow and income statement¶
Monthly Cash Flow compares income, expenses, investments, tax, and checking balances. Yearly Cash Flow shows annual movement at the selected account depth. The Income Statement presents a yearly profit-and-loss view and a multi-year account comparison.
